Who we are
We are one of the UK’s leading independent manufacturers of trade and industrial coatings Through our ‘Multicolour’ brand we deliver a range of high quality products, including Paints for metal, concrete, wood MDF and masonry.
Founded in 2002 to fill a gap in the market for high quality paint systems, we are family owned and run, with three generations of the family working hard to show that a business built on honest family values can still survive today.
Our motto is ‘Quality, Value and Service’. Our first aim is to produce top quality products. Free of the pressure from corporate shareholders and accountants that some of our bigger rivals feel, we can concentrate on making the best possible products using high quality raw materials. Secondly we offer outstanding value for money. We want to feel confident that we have found the balance where, if a rival product is cheaper than ours, it is because the quality is not as good, and if it is more expensive than ours, it is overpriced! We believe in offering service with all our products, and if we are asked a question, and we can help, we will.
What we do
Over almost 25 years we have grown to be one of the largest independent UK manufacturers of coatings for metal, masonry, floors, joinery, MDF and wood. Our industrial division supplies bespoke products to large and multi-national manufacturers of steel fabrications, skips and containers, cranes, skirting boards and architraves. Our own label department discreetly helps other paint and coatings makers with product expertise and production capacity. Paint is still at the heart of what we do though, and our Multicolour coatings are supplied throughout the UK to customers of all sizes. All our products are made and filled with pride by us at our factory in Nottingham. The paint we send out every day range in size from 250ml cans to 1000 Litre IBC’s. Everything is carefully packed, and every order goes out on a tracked service or our own transport.
Our quality
Quality and consistency matter to us and our customers. We research the market for the best ingredients for our paints, and when they arrive with us all our raw materials are quality controlled and tested. Every batch of paint we make is thoroughly quality controlled. We work to standards set out in BS3900 ‘Methods of tests for Paints’, and test for, amongst other things, drying, opacity, colour, viscosity, solids content, adhesion, weathering, scrub resistance etc. Our laboratory equipment includes equipment for testing all these qualities, including viscometers, spectrophotometers, small batch mixers, light cabinets, drying ovens, film applicators, etc. We also carry out long-term ‘real world’ tests on our products (and the competition!) to make sure that ours the best in class. We always ask ourselves if we are happy that our products would be our own first choice.
